MI is the New Champion of CLT20

Mumbai Indians are the winners of the CLT20 2011. Yesterday on the final match took place between Mumbai Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore, MI had given their best performance and their best performance result in the winning of the final match of CLT20.

MI won the toss and elected to bat first, their opening was not quite good and they lost their opener batsman Kanwar at a score of 6runs. At that time the team score was only 10.   Franklin had made smashing 45 runs on 29 balls and this inning is very helpful for giving a fighting total of 139 runs to Royal Challengers.

Spinners Harbhajan Singh (3/20) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/9) along with Lasith Malinga (2/23) had defended this small total in a good way. These bowlers not only straggled RCB batsmen but also took 7 crucial wickets after a late batting collapse.

Batting of MI was not quite impressive in the whole tournament and absence of their Captain Sachin Tendulkar put a great bulk to the team.  The bowler must be given the whole credit of this tournament tag.

RCB opener Tilakratne Dilshan put a smashing hit on the first over and his wicket was taken by Malinga on the fist ball of fifth over. In the very next over, Harbhajan took a surprise wicket of Chris Gayle. The burden of steadying Challengers innings then went to Kohli’s shoulder but at the 11th Over Chahal took his precious wicket which had given a surety chance of win to the MI.

Malinga was awarded with the prize of “Golden Bowler” of the tournament as yesterday with his 2 wicket; he laid the numbers of total wicket in the tournament to 10 wickets. MI also awarded with prize money of 2.5 million pounds and the runner up RCB is awarded by 1.3 million pounds at the end of this tournament.
